This client has been creating and developing the global digital market for many years and is considered a market leader in video compression and on demand delivery systems for a decade. They are head quartered out of the USA and have research and development centers across the world with customers in over 100 countries and regularly receive awards for best product designs for innovation in past years.

Their history in Asia has been both long term and consistent with sales revenues showing 20% growth in recent years. My client is now expanding their technical teams to strengthen their market position and develop more potential clients in the VOD arena.
This is an exciting opportunity in a rapidly growing market to help bring on-demand video services to the cable TV industry in China. The VOD Engineer will be involved with the roll out of hardware and software to new and existing clients, first and second line support.
This position will also provide system interface configuration guidance to system integrators and set-top box partners. Manage the client relationships by general communication regarding the progress of issues and new requirements and shall require travel to customer sites around the country. Some work in other countries, especially in Asia Pacific is also required.

Title: VOD Support Engineer
Location: Beijing
ResPONsibilities:
        Installation, configuration, expansion and verification testing of VOD systems
        1st and 2nd line customer support, both software and hardware Technical support for customer demo, workshop and marketing events
        Escalation and progress of issues within APAC and with the US support and development groups
        Assistance with requirements gathering for new customers and platform growth for existing customers in a timely and efficient manner
        Post implementation system operational training for end users / customer
        Communications support between customers and TTV

Requirements:
        7+ years of experience with video on demand deployments and technologies
        Experience configuring and trouble-shooting DVB-C digital cable headends (SI, Video servers, QAMS, DOCSIS, etc.)
        Experience with set-top box software development
        Development or trouble-shooting experience with any of the following: Python, Tomcat, SOAP, CORBA, RPC, ODBC, JDBC, J2EE
        Oracle DBA
        Understanding of new delivery systems such as DOCSIS 3.0, FTTx and GPON
        Knowledge of OSS systems to include Open View, SNMP and MIBs
        IP delivery of digital video – RTP, RTSP, DSM-CC, Pro-MPEG FEC, RSVP, IGMP
        Basic Cisco IOS
        Experience and knowledge of telecom billing and provisioning systems
        MCSE Certification
        Good Spoken English
        Self-motivated, capable to work efficiently and effectively on customer sites
